All About Heather

Some are born to greatness, some have it thrust upon them and some try to put it off until they decide which cowboy boots to wear. Heather Clisby — author, actor, raconteur and all-around Renaissance gal — falls gracefully into that last category.

In the face of an ever more systematized world, Heather remains a refreshingly human presence. She greets the world with inspiring ferocity and grit, often on very little sleep. Her grounded humor and razor wit are legendary in certain circles and she was recently voted "Wedding Guest of the Year" by Bride magazine.

Heather can be found — sometimes on short notice — in Joshua Tree, Wyoming, Zanzibar, Sydney, Mississippi and lately, San Francisco. She is sufficiently loyal to her friends that she will drop everything to run off to Ireland, Brazil, or even Davis, California . . . in the summer, if duty calls. She has a remarkable gift for putting people at ease and has been known to gently coax her idols into interviews, often with alarming success. As Phyllis Diller once said of her, "She's good. The kid's good."

When she's not retelling these adventures on the airwaves or penning them for publication, she rides horses, acts and directs radio plays, performs burlesque and reviews films. Indeed, while she has swam with the biggest corporate sharks in the boardrooms of America, she has also given retro goddess Dita Von Teese crucial sex-care tips, all the while planning her next adventure.

As a reformed California beach bunny she was all sunshine and happiness . . . but the golden girl routine only belied the range and depth of her humanity. Since those halcyon days she has proven herself adept not only at writing and acting (her two first loves) but also dancing, juggling, improv comedy, equestrianism, culture jamming, gun slinging, scuba diving ... the list goes on.

So ask yourself: Are you worthy? Do you have the energy to hang with the ageless Heather Clisby? Do you have the wit? The chops? The stamina? If you do, then hang tight, because the only time Heather slows down is when there's nothing left to prove.
